Hey Ryan,
I enjoyed your blog. It was really tough getting back to work after lunch last week to see how things had changed. It's unsettling for us and I'm sure stressful for you.

I definitely know the feeling of getting let go as it happened to me at my previous job. Looking back though it was probably the best thing that happened to me as it gave me a chance to start anew. In barely a month I had found this job and was able to start anew.. New people, new area, new possibilities, and even better pay. I also have been able to dictate my own future more because I've held a much more substantial role than at my previous job. It was really tough though because it was my first real career-like job that I was let go from, so I felt like a failure -- having thoughts that maybe I'm not cut out for this, perhaps not smart enough to write software.

But anyways, I think you and the others will do well. We are lucky that we are in an industry which is still growing and that there are jobs. So many people in this country do not have such fortune as they get let go because the work just isn't there (I have an uncle who was a surveyor and hasn't worked in 2 years). However this field is one that seems to have high turnover and most jobs just don't last 5-10 years or more.

I wish you the best of luck and don't be shy. You can use me as a reference if you need to (I'm sure you've got a dozen but just in case).

Ingrid, by far the easiest thing to do is attend the free classes offered at the Apple Store.....

Follow the link here http://www.apple.com/retail/thepromenadeatchenal/ and look at the one to one or workshops for the ipad. They are usually free so they are great for people that just received their iPad.

Good luck!
